DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

In her role as an educator, Shireen has over 15 years of teaching experience, both in the classroom, as well as in the design studio, supporting varied levels of users in and out of the fashion industry.

Shireen is able to leverage her expert knowledge of technology with the creative needs of designers and design professionals, due to her own broad range skill sets in the field of design. Originally from an Apparel background,  she designed for the special occasion, evening and bridal markets, then moved into Beading/Embroidery and Surface Design before ultimately finding her niche as a Digital Designer for Fashion and Textiles. Shireen has worked for such clients as Nautica, Victoria's Secret, Liz Claiborne and Coach, among many others.

In her capacity as Adjunct Professor at Parsons, the New School for Design, and Pratt Institue, Shireen provides specialized and differentiated instruction on the Adobe Creative Suite Programs (incl. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge, Acrobat) for use in the Fashion and Textiles Industries. Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing students have ranged from all user/skill levels, including the Continuing Education, AAS and BFA programs.  She has also taught Fashion Art and Illustration for the Saturday Live program at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

As an educator, Shireen fosters literacy and growth in all aspects of effective communication, via visual, verbal and written exercises. Shireen engages students to make meaningful connections across various design processes and work flows, with specific emphasis on reflection, editing and refining their work based on thoughtful analysis and insight. To create a more fully integrated educative experience, digital resources and instructional support via Class Blog and tutorial videos have become integral elements of her methodology. Students are encouraged to synthesize ideas and images to create their unique voice and awareness of personal aesthetic.

Shireen offers personal or group training for the Adobe Creative Suite. Additionally, as well as available for part-time, or short-term freelance projects, both are offered on or off site.

CLIENT REVIEWS:

We hired Shireen to help our company restructure our art department and have one-on-one training with our designers on the Adobe Creative Suite. Her overall knowledge of all programs was impeccable. She was able to help us build a good foundation and streamline workflow in a matter of weeks rather than months. Her diligence, thoroughness and positive attitude were refreshing and she is a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend her services if you want things done correctly.

I came to Shireen for one-on-one training on the Adobe programs to transfer and translate my already advanced skills to the Adobe platform and workspace. She was able to accurately identify my skill level customize the lessons to my needs. She really listened as I shared my questions and easily found multiple ways to describe the various techniques until I understood the specific process. She was able to guide me to the shortcuts and most efficient workflows to achieve the tasks that I needed for my work as a textile designer. I highly recommend Shireen as trainer, no matter what your skill level! You will come away with more practical skills as well as increased confidence and comfort with the Adobe interface.
